Portuguese soprano Beatriz Volante is a Samling Artist and a postgraduate at the Royal College of Music, studying under the guidance of Ben Johnson and Bryan Evans, where she is a Mimi Opperby award holder. Beatriz is also part of the Josephine Baker Trust and will join the prestigious Britten Pears Young Artist programme 2025/2026, working with musicians such as Malcolm Martineau, Roderick Williams and Julia Faulkner.

Her operatic roles include Venus in Venus and Adonis by John Blow; Papaguena in Die Zauberflöte by W.A.Mozart; Rowan in The Little Sweep by Britten; First soprano in Janáček: Diary of One Who Disappeared with MPMP, Duquesa in Barão e Duquesa, Ninguém e todo o mundo by Daniel Moreira and Milena in Cânticos para a remissão da fome by António Chagas Rosa with OperaFest Lisbon; Donna Anna in Don Giovanni Tenorio by G. Gazzaniga at RCM Britten Theatre ; Mother and Ogress in O Polegarzinho by Aboulker with OperaFest Lisbon; Marie in La Fille du Régiment by G. Donizetti at RCM (scenes) and Norina in Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti at RCM (scenes).

More recently, she performed as Michal in Saul by Händel with the Monteverdi String Orchestra under the direction of Richard Pearce and as Soprano I in Rossini’s Stabat Mater with Lloyd´s Choirs under the direction of Jacques Cohen.

Beatriz has participated in masterclasses with artists such as Mariella Devia, Sophie Bevan, Edith Wiens, Tobias Truniger, Serena Gamberoni, Amanda Roocroft and Michèle Crider. She was also awarded the Cuthbert Smith Prize in the Lies Askonas competition at the Royal College of Music.

She looks forward to perform as second witch and second women in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at OperaFest 2025/2026 this August at their summer programme.
